Farewell to Alice Adamson

Treasured and admired by many of her fellow CWA members, Mrs Alice Adamson passed away peacefully on Tuesday 11th July, aged 83.

Alice joined the Country Women’s Association of WA in 1963 as a founding member of the Albion Downs CWA Branch and most recently was a member of the Mt Helena/Parkerville Branch.

Alice held the position of CWA of WA State President from 2009-2010 and before this time was President of the Murchison Division from 1981-1984 and State Extension Officer from 1989-1992.  Alice was Chairman, Secretary and member of many other CWA committees including The Country Fair Committee, CWA Residential Committee, 75th Celebration Committee, Archives Committee (inaugural Chairman), Cultural and International Coordinator of the Avon Hills Division and Co-ordinator of the CWA Wool Days in Forrest Place.

Everyone who met Alice commented on her gracious, supportive and positive manner and her lovely smile that could turn to a cheeky and mischievous grin.  Her sense of humour and colourful stories kept everyone happy and entertained.   She always welcomed visitors with such warmth that people felt that they had known her for years.  Alice had a special and endearing presence and was considered a ‘real lady’ by all who knew her.

The Association wishes her husband Bob, her children Robert, Sam, Sara and David and all her extended family, our deepest sympathies.
