Vale Edith Webb

Albany Branch is sad to report the loss of our valued long-time CWA member, Edith Webb, who died yesterday at Clarence Estate – shortly after turning 98 years old. Edith joined CWA “Younger Set” as a teenager, and then was a founding Member of the Albany Evening Branch for young working women, before moving to Mt. Manypeaks.
Edith was State Handicrafts Coordinator for many years, and very influential in Great Southern Division. She and compatriot Laurel Locke travelled all over the State together, teaching and judging – including an epic expedition visiting remote branches ‘up North’. Many members would remember Edith, she was very influential in her day, and well loved and respected.
She rejoined Albany when Manypeaks Branch closed a couple of years ago, and has remained an active member until quite recently – attending Quaranup Craft Camp and other events until last year.
Edith was a CWA icon, who always had a smile and a welcome word, and was known and loved by CWA members across WA. She will be greatly missed by her CWA family.
