Awards – Clarice Rudduck Memorial Award

Established in 1962 by Mr S Rudduck in memory of his wife, who was a member of State Council at the time of her death. A Certificate of Merit, monetary award and Shield are presented to the Branch which exhibits the finest community effort in the preceding year and is announced at State Conference.

This year the prize was shared between two branches:

Perth Belles Branch

(Certificate + $500 + Memorial Shield – to be shared with Thornlie Branch):  Perth Belles Branch has just celebrated 10 years.  Over the last year, this branch has donated to the Association in order to assist those less fortunate and provided financial assistance to Association projects.  They also sponsored memberships for rural members who could not afford to do so during this year of drought.  They also contributed to community groups such as Camp Kulin and women’s refuges, Starting Over Support and the Australian Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.  With the funds received from their prize, the branch will facilitate a supportive partnership with King Edward Memorial Hospital where newborns and women throughout the state would be beneficiaries of the supplies and services this prize would generate.

Thornlie Branch

(Certificate + $500 + Memorial Shield – to be shared with Perth Belles Branch):  Thornlie Branch has been operating since 1969 and their current longest serving member has been with them for 30 years.  This branch is heavily involved in craft work which they sell during the year to benefit the community.  They have also donated over $5,000 to local charities
