CWA continues to support the community in situations of emergency, such as bushfire or flooding. Each branch assigns a member to be their emergency contact, who is the point of contact for requests for help from local authorities. A register of Branch Emergency Contacts is kept by the State Welfare Emergency Coordinator, Lesley Langley from Claremont Branch, and State Office.
Throughout the State, the Local Government Emergency Committees can call on CWA members, usually in evacuation situations, to assist the DFCS to serve meals to Police and DFES workers and help with evacuees. We often work in conjunction with the the Salvation Army. Our volunteers tally around 1000 hours of this work every year.
