The CWA Albany Seaside Flats are an important State Project of the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia. However, you do not need to be a member to access an affordable seaside holiday here – though members do get reduced rates. We have an on-site caretaker, who lives in Flat 3, to care for your needs. Please leave a message if she is not there when you ring, and she will get back to you as soon as she can.
Albany is in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, about 420km south-east of Perth. Its mild Mediterranean climate – warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters – make it the perfect place to visit all year, and escape the excessive summer heat and winter chill of the WA climate. Contrary to popular belief, Albany is actually warmer than Perth region in the winter, seldom dropping below 6C overnight.
Albany region has varied coastline, with beautiful, secluded beaches for swimming, snorkeling and fishing, with safe areas for children, as well as some excellent surfing beaches. The grounds around the units are home to many native birds, and wildlife such as bandicoots, and the famous King Skinks. The Seaside Flats adjoin the Albany Golf Course, where you are welcome to hire clubs and have a game. From June through October, you can watch the whales play in King George Sound – from the beach near the Seaside Flats, from the cliff drive into town, or on a Whale Watching boat trip. Other great tours of the coast, the Kalgan River, Albany town-site, and wildlife spotting tours, operate for most of the year.
There are plenty of local restaurants, large shopping complexes with most major stores, and many smaller local shops located along the main streets.
